To demonstrate the importance of scholarship and those who are dedicated to student learning, each academic division on campus was asked to dedicate a faculty fellowship to a former faculty and/or administrator who demonstrated outstanding scholarship and dedication to teaching and student learning. One of the first things new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Kim McCormick did when she assumed her duties was to transform the Teaching & Learning Academy into a new Faculty Center for Excellence and Innovation. She also expanded the Faculty Senate Faculty Fellows program that recognized the scholarly achievement of only one faculty member, to include the achievement of seven faculty members.
The goal of the new Faculty Center is to fully support the integration of high impact teaching practices with plans to build active learning that crosses departments and divisions in order to improve student engagement and learning.
